My name is Jennifer Massey-Blanding and I am your child's School Counselor serving grades Pre-K, 1st, 3rd, and 5th. Just to name a few things I do at Lawrence Orr, I help students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through individual and group counseling, provide individual and small group counseling based on student needs, work with students to develop skills such as organization, time management, and effective study habits, help students set realistic academic and career goals and develop a plan to achieve them and teach classes on topics such as bullying, drug abuse, and planning for college or careers awareness.
Now let me tell you a little about myself: I am a graduate of Benedict College with a Bachelor's in Child Development and Family Studies/Early Childhood. I have my Master’s in Professional School Counseling. I am currently working on my Educational Specialist degree from Liberty University. I am married and have two daughters (Addison and Alana). I am an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. since 2003. I am very passionate about working as a School Counselor in Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.
I believe learning requires the active participation, mutual respect, and individual accountability of students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
